The start of the project

In the Sverdlovsk region there are more than 4 330 000 people, about 9% of them have a disability – this is a huge layer of our society, consisting of active, creative and decent people with who people just sometimes do not want to communicate, and sometimes do not notice. It is important to understand that the criterion of accessibility of the environment is not the number of ramps and symbols of accessibility of the environment, but the number of persons with disabilities independently moving in the urban space, especially the disabled of the first group. Thus, there is an understanding of the need not only to establish effective mechanisms of inclusion, but also to establish a system of public education on the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities.

Therefore, the goal of the project “School of masters of inclusion” is to improve the quality of accessible environment and inclusive interaction through the formation of communicative inclusive competencies of employees interacting with people with disabilities in the process of practice-oriented training with the participation of trainers from among the disabled.

“School of masters of inclusion” continues to develop social innovations. A new stage is the creation of an inclusive working group of experts, including people with disabilities in hearing, vision, musculoskeletal system, mental disorders to develop and coordinate the educational program “Formation of communicative competence for interaction with people with disabilities”.

Teachers and trainers will not only conduct practice-oriented classes for employees of various services and organizations but also develop and adapt educational and methodical support of the program.

For that at all stages of the project experts from among the disabled four nosological groups will involve, they understand the specifics of the interaction based on the characteristics of the person.

The program of “School of masters of inclusion”

The program includes the following modules:

  • “Fundamentals of inclusive communication, problems and opportunities in interacting with people with disabilities”,
  • “Basic rules for interacting with persons with disabilities: specifics and peculiarities”.

In the process of practice-oriented learning:

  • The method of “Personal history” is effectively used when people with various types of disabilities are involved in practical classes and workshops as teachers: wheelchair users, blind and visually impaired people, people with mental disorders – “masters of inclusion” who have achieved significant life results. In conducting of classes, teachers with disabilities organize interaction in such a way that they are perceived as successful individuals with a positive experience of inclusion in society, and not as disabled.
  • Training sessions are conducted for students, simulating the service for persons with disabilities using technical means of rehabilitation.
  • Trainers and people with disabilities are being trained for further self-study under the program.

As part of the program, every two weeks support meetings are held for future coaches – The Club Of Masters Of Inclusion.

The rules of the Club:

  1. Feedback + new exercise.
  2. The development of talents and abilities – it is a human responsibility.
  3. Cyclicity – basic tools are repeated and presuppositions are reinterpreted, despite the fact that the same person does not show one tool twice.
  4. Everyone works at his own pace.
  5. An inclusive trio is necessary.
  6. Contest: the most inclusive trio (not familiar + inclusive) the Story — what’s in your trio inclusive?
  7. In trios “Researcher 3D” to describe the sensory characteristics of the process “Inclusion as a culture”.
  8. Participation of speakers-trainers is welcome.

Students from teachers and other employees of educational institutions of the Sverdlovsk region, as well as students from among people with various types of disabilities and without disabilities for training as trainers for the further implementation of the project program.
