“Sails of the spirit” – “Transforming the world through inclusive interaction”

From June 13 to July 9, 2019, in Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Denmark with the support of the State atomic energy Corporation “Rosatom” the Baltic stage of the expedition “Sails of the spirit” will be held. The catamaran will take the route Riga (Latvia) – Klaipeda (Lithuania). The expedition includes people with disabilities and people without disabilities from different cities and regions of Russia, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Poland and other countries.

The team of “Sails of the spirit” is engaged in the preparation and implementation of inclusive activities: yacht expeditions and regattas, social and cultural activities, in order to form a new positive model of interaction between people with disabilities and society.

Since 2011, inclusive (including people with disabilities) teams have been on fifteen expeditions in different parts of the world.

The goal of the “Sails of the spirit” project is the development of the inclusive yachting as an open model of manifestation of special talents and abilities of a person.

This year, the cities of the Baltic sea countries will host days of inclusion and regattas.

The team will be headed by Uldis Mezhulis, yachtsman of Riga yacht club “Auda”, multiple winners of international races. The ideological inspirer of the project and the head of the humanitarian program of the expedition is Oleg Kolpashchikov.

In 2019, for the first time in the framework of the “Sails of the spirit” project, research will be conducted on what competencies the participants of inclusive interaction in the conditions of yachting acquire.

In addition, for the first time stages of the expedition entrusted to lead to blind activists from Latvia and Russia.

The expedition will be held on a sailing-motor catamaran “Kani Kele”, the crew of which will include 10 persons, which will change during the expedition.

On 27-29 June 2019, inclusion days will be held in the Swedish cities: Torekov and Halmstad. As part of the days of inclusion, workshops, a round table, inclusive water sports, as well as inclusive excursions will be held.
